I've done my fair share of world-building, and one of the trickiest parts that I have found is trying to find a god to either fit a character's backstory or the setting. There are tons of lists of deities on the internet; some, like Forgotten Realms, include information on previous editions and show how the deity's history has developed over the years. But I have had trouble finding a comprehensive catalog that describes each god by domain, alignment, and pantheon. Though you can look up, say, ocean deities, you typically will find pictures and names, but then must spend time going through each page to try and find one that fits best for what you're looking for. The same is true for pantheons and alignments. I haven't found a catalog that provided a quick peek into exactly what a god was all about in a single snapshot.
Along with that, there is a considerable paywall when it comes to owning D&D sourcebooks, which prevents new players from delving deep into the lore of the world. This project attempts to provide a comprehensive, free catalog of the deities in 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons to help DMs and players develop their world's lore more easily.
The deities are drawn from specific 5th Edition D&D sourcebooks: The Player's Handbook, The Dungeons Master's Guide, Eberron: Rising from the Last War, Mythic Odysseys of Theros, and Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, and does not include spin-off deities (Critical Role content) or deities from specific adventures. Gods of the Multiverse: An Unofficial D&D 5th Edition Catalog is my final project submission for my LIS7030 Organization of Information class, taken in fall 2020.
