Part I - Production Features

When speaking of production changes in terms of Jeeps, most people are unaware of the length of changes that Jeeps undertook during the course of the war. Between the Willys MB and Ford GPW, a complex matrix of features and changes exists with certain design styles changing month by month, and often not at the same time for either model. Ford would produce their GPWs with one feature, and soon enough Willys would begin making MBs with the same one, and vice versa.

When restoring a vehicle with such a varied production history, it is important to carefully research all aspects of your vehicle in order to correctly reproduce its original manufactured state. While for many, simply having a running piece of history is enough, I decided that I wanted to have as an accurate restoration as possible.

This section will encompass the entirety of my research- illustrating not just the unique features of a Jeep manufactured April of 1943, but also the common features of the jeep, some lasting the entire duration of its production. While there were many changes made to the design of the Jeep and its components, some sections saw little or no change at all.
