The GuardMe Student Support Program is designed to make accessing support simple and immediate.
Students can connect with clinicians and wellness coaches anytime through the platform.
Support can be accessed through the GuidanceResources mobile app, by phone, or through online services. The app provides the most streamlined experience and allows students to explore the full range of program features.
The process for accessing support involves three simple steps.
Download the GuidanceResources app and follow the steps to create your account.
To begin using the GuardMe Student Support Program, students first need to create their account within the GuidanceResources platform.
Students can register by entering their student identifier and selecting their institution. This ensures they are connected to the services available through their school’s GuardMe Student Support Program.
How to get started
Download the GuidanceResources mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Open the app and select the option to create an account.
Enter your student identifier and select your institution from the list.
Complete the account setup process by confirming your basic information.
Once registered, log in to the GuidanceResources app to access the GuardMe Student Support Program.
After logging in, students will be able to explore available services and choose how they would like to receive support.
Choose a support pathway
Once logged in, students can choose how they would like to access support based on their needs at that moment.
The program offers three pathways designed to meet students wherever they are in their support journey.
Immediate support from a clinician
Students who want to speak with someone right away can select Connect Me.
This option connects students directly to a master’s-level clinician who can provide immediate support and guidance.
This pathway is ideal for students who:
• need someone to talk to right away
• are feeling overwhelmed or distressed
• are facing a difficult situation and want professional guidance
• are unsure where to start and want to speak with a clinician first
Students can connect through phone, chat, or video, depending on their preference and availabilty by region.
The clinician will listen, help clarify the student’s concerns, and guide them toward appropriate next steps or resources.
Explore resources and support tools
Students who would like to explore resources independently can choose Guide Me.
This pathway provides access to a range of wellbeing resources designed to support students across multiple areas of life.
These resources may include:
• articles and educational content
• wellbeing videos and podcasts
• stress management tools
• guidance on common life challenges
• information about additional support services
Guide Me allows students to explore support at their own pace and discover tools that may help them navigate their situation.
Students can also connect with a clinician at any time while exploring these resources.
Receive a personalized wellness plan
Students who want a more structured approach to support can choose Assess Me.
This pathway guides students through a comprehensive wellbeing assessment designed to better understand their needs across several areas of life.
The assessment explores factors related to overall wellbeing and provides personalized recommendations based on the student’s responses.
Students receive a tailored support plan that may include:
• recommended counselling options
• digital wellbeing tools
• educational resources
• practical strategies for managing challenges
The assessment helps students better understand their situation and identify the most helpful next steps.
Schedule counselling appointments if needed
While many students use the program for real-time support, some may benefit from ongoing counseling sessions.
Students can schedule appointments with licensed clinicians through the platform.
Appointments are typically available within:
• two business days for virtual sessions
• three business days for in-person sessions, where available
Students can review available clinicians and choose the provider that best meets their preferences.
When selecting a clinician, students may filter based on:
• language preference
• areas of specialization
• gender identity
• cultural background
• location
• availability
Students can view clinician profiles, which include information about their background and areas of expertise.
Once an appointment is scheduled, students can continue working with the same counsellor for follow-up sessions, allowing for continuity of care and a consistent therapeutic relationship.
If a student feels that another clinician may be a better fit, they may choose to rematch with a different provider.
Students can access the GuardMe Student Support Program from anywhere in the world.
Support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through:
• phone
• chat
• video
• the GuidanceResources mobile app
This global accessibility ensures that students can receive help whether they are studying on campus, travelling internationally, or temporarily outside of the USA.
Students are encouraged to use the program whenever they feel they need support.
Common reasons students reach out include:
• feeling overwhelmed by school or life pressures
• experiencing stress, anxiety, or loneliness
• navigating financial or housing challenges
• seeking guidance for personal or relationship concerns
• looking for strategies to improve wellbeing
Students do not need to be in crisis to use the program. The service is designed to provide support early, helping students address challenges before they become more difficult.
