Director of Bands
I’m Johnathan Doerr (pronounced “dare”), and I’m incredibly excited to be joining Ram Nation as your next Director of Bands!
I’ve had a wide range of performing arts experiences over the years! I had the joy of directing a nationally touring drum corps for 8 years, and have been a music educator for almost 8 years as well. My ensembles have taken the stage and field at iconic venues like Lucas Oil Stadium, the Alamo Dome, AT&T Stadium, and NRG stadium. My students have earned consistent appearances in state level contests and world championship finals. I’ve also had the privilege of consulting with and designing for programs across 15 states as well as working with major halftime productions for college bowl games.
It’s been an honor to teach students who have gone on to perform with “The President’s Own” Marine Band, the Saturday Night Live Band, and even alongside Beyoncé. Many of my former students have continued their musical journey at prestigious universities and conservatories, and some have now gone on to become incredible educators themselves.
I believe in the power of the performing arts to inspire, empower, and transform. My goal is to help every student dream big, work hard, and create lifelong memories & friendships! I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us!
