Background- Jacob Massey was born and raised in Weaverville, but has deep roots in Madison County, with family in the area dating back to the late 1700’s. He is a fourth-generation Baptist preacher. His dad, Steve Massey, is a preacher. His grandfather, George “Cotton” Massey, pastored for decades at Easter Gap Baptist Church and Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Madison County. His great grandfather, O.C. Massey, was from the Sodom Laurel area and pastored for several decades in the area as well as helped found Mt. Sheba Baptist Church in Weaverville, Jacob’s sending church.

Family- He was married to his wife Paige in late 2017, and they have two beautiful children.

Ministry Background- After being raised in a Baptist church with a heavy Christian influence/background, he was saved at the age of 11. At around age 18, he began to really have a hunger for the things of God. He started reading any biblical literature he could get his hands on, listening to sermons and bible teaching, truly falling in love with God’s word. He then taught a young adult Sunday School class from 2018 to 2020. In 2020, he began teaching a larger adult Sunday School class at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church. In January, 2023, he announced his call to preach and began preaching. After continuing to teach while also having a busy preaching schedule, the Lord directed his heart to Grace Missionary Baptist Church.

Ministry Outlook- He has a zeal for teaching and preaching the word of God, a burden for the lost, and a desire to reach the mountain community he was born and raised in. Having conversed with many different people amongst many different faiths, he is fully persuaded that the only hope for anyone in this world is Jesus Christ and Bible-believing Christianity.
