The church started meeting in July 2002 on the back porch at Woody and Betty Jean Dillingham's house.
They then moved to the Bowman Funeral Home in Marshall. According to Robert Swann the agreement was that they could use the funeral home if no one wanted to have a funeral at the time church was meeting. In all the time that they were there, they only had one Sunday that they couldn't meet at the appointed time.
Later, the Lord blessed the congregation and they were able to lease the Methodist
Church in Marshall, which allowed more room for Sunday School classes.
The Lord blessed again when the church was able to acquire a
building and one acre of land on Smith Hollow Rd. in May, 2004.
Grace Missionary Baptist Church held its first services and homecoming on Sunday, August 8, 2004 in its new building, located just off US 25-70, on Smith Hollow Road, in Marshall. The building formerly belonged to the Moose Club. The church, which had been leasing the Marshall Methodist Church building in downtown, acquired the building and one acre of land in early May and started remodeling later that month.
The church had yard sales and fund raisers to get extra money to install the steeple on top of the church. And the steeple was installed on January 23, 2008.
On April 10, 2005 Woody Dillingham, the first pastor, resigned as pastor from Grace Missionary Baptist
Church. He was the pastor from July 2002 until April 2005.
Glen Autry was the pastor from June 5, 2005 to July 24, 2005.
Jerry Kent was the pastor from October 23, 2005 until he resigned on September 14, 2014 (Health concerns).
David Brigmon was elected pastor on November 30, 2014. David died on December 2, 2017.
Larry Moore was elected pastor October 21, 2018. Larry resigned August 31, 2025.
Jacob Massey was elected pastor on April 5, 2026. He is the current pastor.
