I have a Ph.D. and a Masters in Second Language Education from the University of Ottawa, Canada. Currently, I'm an Assistant Professor at the Facultad de Humanidades, USACH. In the English language teaching program, I teach the courses of ELT Methodology and Didactica General.
My research focuses on social (in)justice and the learning of English in difficult circumstances. In my FONDECY Iniciación Project n°11240363, I incorporated the voices of English teachers working in vulnerable schools in Santiago. Drawing on the Capability Approach (Sen, 1999), the study looks at the experiences and capabilities of educators in complex and socially deprived school contexts. I am also interested in the inclussion and participation of novice English teachers in school Communities of Practice, teacher research communities and international professional development.
I've always thought if I weren't a teacher, I would be a photographer. I love to capture nature, people, and places. I always stop, take the phone, and get a few pics wherever I go.
