To encourage participation from both established and emerging research efforts, authors may submit one of two formats through the same submission system:
๐ 1-Page Abstract: A concise 1-page abstract describing:
New or emerging research
Work currently under review elsewhere
Early-stage ideas and experimental results
Research directions
Case studies or deployment experiences
Community initiatives
Position or perspective work
๐ Short Paper: A short paper of up to 4 pages, excluding references and appendices. Short papers may present:
Technical research
Experimental results
New methodologies
Applied research
Case studies
Deployment experiences
Interdisciplinary research
Responsible or inclusive AI research
Both formats are submitted through the same OpenReview submission link.
GlobalSouthAI @ NeurIPS 2026 is part of a growing effort to build a sustained international research community around AI for and from the Global South. We particularly welcome contributions that build upon work previously accepted through GlobalSouthAI and GlobalSouthML activities.
Authors may submit work that has previously been accepted through:
GlobalSouthAI @ AAAI 2026, Singapore ๐ธ๐ฌ
GlobalSouthML @ ICML 2026, Seoul, South Korea ๐ฐ๐ท
GlobalSouthAI @ IJCAI-ECAI 2026, Bremen, Germany ๐ฉ๐ช
Previously accepted work does not need to be completely new to be considered. However, authors are strongly encouraged, where applicable, to highlight:
New results or experiments
Extensions of the original work
New datasets or benchmarks
Deployment experiences
Lessons learned
New applications or geographic contexts
Reflections on AI development or deployment in the Global South
This initiative is designed to create continuity across GlobalSouthAI editions, enabling researchers to revisit, extend, and share their work while strengthening a sustained international community around AI for and from the Global South.
Previous acceptance at a GlobalSouthAI/GlobalSouthML activity does not imply automatic acceptance at GlobalSouthAI @ NeurIPS 2026. All submissions remain subject to the event's review process.
Authors may submit:
Option 1: ๐ 1-Page Abstract (PDF)
Option 2: ๐ Short Paper of up to 4 pages (PDF), excluding references and appendices
Submissions should:
Follow the NeurIPS 2026 submission format
Be anonymized to the best of the authors' ability
Not exceed the applicable page limit
The review process is double-blind.
Submissions are non-archival. Accepted contributions may be submitted to, published at, or have previously appeared at other venues, subject to the policies of those venues.
All submissions must be made via OpenReview: NeurIPS 2026 GlobalSouthAI Submission Link
Reciprocal Review: To support a community-driven review process, authors with prior papers accepted at relevant venues may be required to nominate at least one eligible co-author as a reviewer. Nominated reviewers may receive up to four reviews and must complete them by the stated deadline; failure to fulfill this requirement may result in desk rejection.
