FAQ

1. Do I need to be affiliated with a Global South institution to submit?

No.

The call is open to researchers worldwide. We welcome work that is relevant to AI for and/or from the Global South, regardless of the author's institutional location.

2. Can I submit a 1-page abstract instead of a paper?

Yes.

Authors may submit either a 1-page abstract or a short paper of up to 4 pages, excluding references and appendices.

3. Can I submit work that is currently under review elsewhere?

Yes.

Submissions are non-archival. However, authors must comply with the dual-submission and concurrent-submission policies of the other venue.

4. Can I submit work that has already been published?

Yes, where permitted by the original publication venue.

Previously published work should be clearly identified and should ideally highlight new results, extensions, deployment experiences, or lessons relevant to GlobalSouthAI.

5. Is there a separate Community Track?

No. There is one unified submission track.

All authors use the same OpenReview submission link.

6. Can I submit work previously accepted at GlobalSouthAI or GlobalSouthML?

Yes.

We particularly welcome work previously accepted through:

• GlobalSouthAI @ AAAI 2026

• GlobalSouthML @ ICML 2026

• GlobalSouthAI @ IJCAI-ECAI 2026

Please indicate the previous GlobalSouthAI/GlobalSouthML activity during submission .

7. Will previously accepted GlobalSouthAI/GlobalSouthML work be automatically accepted?

No.

Previous acceptance establishes eligibility for consideration under the continuing-community initiative but does not guarantee acceptance at GlobalSouthAI @ NeurIPS 2026.

8. Are submissions archival?

No. 

GlobalSouthAI @ NeurIPS 2026 submissions are non-archival.

9. Can an accepted contribution be submitted elsewhere?

Yes, subject to the policies of the other venue.
