Traditionally, wars occur when communities with a dominant identity and ideology along with shared interests clash over territorial disputes. However, nowadays, it is not sovereign governments who wage war but instead powerful international drug cartels, vying over territory, pride and trade. But how can the international community respond to such powerful multinational organizations? This committee will attempt to untangle a range of jurisdictions and laws to create an international response to the threat of gang violence.
As we enter a globalized world with increasingly deadly weapons, there is an increased risk of deadly terrorism that can take thousands of civilian lives. The invention and developments in technology regarding chemical, biological and nuclear weapons in the last century have led to an increased likelihood of terrorist incidents that can affect a wide range of civilians. This committee will be a fast paced simulation of the international reaction to terrorist incidents of this nature.

The year is 1956 and progress in decolonization and Zionism have led to an increased tension in a diverse Middle Eastern powderkeg that was already on the verge of exploding. After Colonel Gamel Abdel Nasser’s seizure of one of the world’s most valuable assets and a militaristic invasion from the forces of the new Israeli state, the conventional European Superpowers issued an ultimatum on the 30th October. Since neither side in this Second Arab-Israeli War has accepted the terms of that statement, the world is poised for a geopolitical conflict that could shape the future of the world.
