Father Willy Raymond, C.S.C., President, Holy Cross Family Ministries
Dear Friends in Christ,
At the beginning of a new year, it is a tradition in many Catholic cultures for the father or grandfather of the family to bless the children, one by one. This custom is rooted in the practice of biblical patriarchs. In the Christian household, the elder traces the Sign of the Cross on the forehead of the child or adult offspring and prays the Blessing Prayer from the Book of Numbers in the Old Testament {Numbers 6: 22-24}:
The Lord bless you and keep you!
The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you!
The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!
Within the Catholic Church, the practice of blessing carries an even more exalted power. When the priest {bishop or deacon} blesses one In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, he imparts to the one blessed, in virtue of his anointing by the Holy Spirit at ordination, the grace that accomplishes what the blessing says.
Just as God at the creation said, ‘Let there be light’, and there was light; or the priest at the Eucharist says, ‘This is my body’, the bread becomes the Body of Christ, and the wine becomes the Blood of Christ; or in the sacrament of confession, when the priest raises his hand to bless the penitent saying, ‘I absolve you from your sins, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit’; the penitent’s sins are forgiven. The words of blessing do not merely inform, they perform, they make happen, what is said in prayer.
Think for a moment of a goal scored in a football {soccer} match. The team that scores the goal celebrates and so do their fans. However, until the referee officially declares it a goal, it is not real and does not count. But once the referee declares it a goal, then it is real and is registered on the scoreboard.
Parents, this is your call to be bold in prayer and begin this new year tracing the Sign of the Cross on the foreheads of your children. You are the priests in the domestic Church, and you can call God's blessing down upon your children, your house and your generations. So, be bold! Do it! And you will be blessing the generations to follow as well.
Blessings on you during the New Year 2021!

Statue of Venerable Patrick Peyton being unloaded
As we pray for the beatification and canonization of our founder Venerable Patrick Peyton, his iconic presence grows stronger by the day in the eyes of the faithful community. On January 9, 2021, the 112th birth anniversary of our founder, a beautiful, handcrafted, Italian sculpture in the likeness of Father Peyton was installed at the Father Peyton Center, Easton, MA. The statue made its way from Italy to Easton, where it was installed on Venerable Peyton’s birth anniversary. January 9, 2021 was a truly special day for us!

The depiction of Jesus’ birth is itself a simple and joyful proclamation of the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God. According to Pope Francis, the nativity scene - which means 'arisen by birth' - is like a living Gospel rising up from the pages of sacred Scripture.

Father Ruben will follow in the footsteps of Father Elias Palma, who served energetically for a decade as director of Family Rosary Bangladesh. Farewell and thanks to Father Elias and welcome to Father Ruben.
Father Roberto Baker served as the National Director of Family Rosary Peru. We thank God for his excellent service and we pray for his eternal rest. Amen.
Saint Joseph, head of the Holy Family, God chose you among men to be the protector of the Christ Child and the Guardian of the Virgin Mary. To you whom the Church honors as her patron we joyfully come to consecrate ourselves and to be your adopted children.
We feel the great need of your kind protection. Our weakness and Proneness to evil would cause us to perish, but for your protecting arm. Saint Joseph, from heaven where you reign with Jesus and Mary, look upon us who promise to follow your example.
Grant that, after fulfilling our Christian duties on earth, we may have the happiness of dying with your name and the names of Jesus and Mary on our lips. Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Father Peyton devoted his priestly life to strengthening the families of the world by calling them to pray together every day, especially the Rosary. His message is as important for us now as it was during his life on earth.
We beg you, therefore, to hasten the day of his beatification, so that your faithful people everywhere will remember his message that the family that prays together stays together, will imitate him in his devotion to your Mother and ours, and will be inspired by his holy life to draw ever closer to you with childlike confidence and love. Amen.
