"What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say." — Ralph Waldo Emerson
This powerful and challenging statement reminds us that our actions often speak louder than words. It calls us to reflect not just on what we say, but how we live. In truth, the opposite can also be revealing: when actions are absent, even the most eloquent words can feel hollow.
As part of our Lenten family visitation program, the HCFM team committed to reaching out to the sick—to encourage them, pray with them, and offer our presence as a sign of compassion and solidarity. One of the homes we visited was that of the former Chairperson of Bugembe Centre, who has been bedridden for two years.
Mr. Kapere Francis, unable to speak or see after suffering a stroke caused by high blood pressure, became aware through hearing that a team had come to pray with him. His joy and peace were evident in his body language. When I greeted him with a handshake, he held my hand firmly for over 30 minutes—a silent but powerful gesture of gratitude.
These simple acts of presence and empathy brought comfort not only to Mr. Francis, but also to his devoted wife, who has been by his side throughout this difficult journey. She expressed heartfelt appreciation to HCFM for the love and concern shown to their family.
Praise, honor, and glory to God Most High.
