In a gesture echoing the biblical call, “I was in prison and you came to visit me” (Matthew 25:36), Holy Cross Family Ministries, in collaboration with the Youth of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Nkoranza, carried out a moving outreach to Ejura Prisons in Ghana. This initiative sought to bring comfort and joy to inmates while fostering a spirit of hope and solidarity.
The visit included a Rosary prayer service with both inmates and wardens, followed by engaging activities such as football, volleyball, and storytelling. To help alleviate some of the daily challenges the inmates face, we also distributed essential items including food, clothing, and footwear.
The chief Warden expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing the immense challenges they encounter—most notably, a meager daily allowance of only 15 cents per inmate. His appeal for ongoing support underscored the urgent need for sustained aid and solidarity.
This experience reaffirmed the transformative power of compassion. Our outreach not only brought immediate relief but also conveyed a powerful message of human dignity and care. Holy Cross Family Ministries remains committed to initiatives like this—serving those often overlooked and nurturing a deeper sense of hope, empathy, and community.
