Sponsorship Success Story
Jagat Jyoti Chakma
Jagat Jyoti Chakma is from Thegaduor village, located near the Bangladesh border. He comes from a family facing significant financial hardship. Although both his father and mother work hard, the family’s sole income comes from selling vegetables, which has made it extremely difficult to afford the costs associated with higher education.
Jagat has always been a brilliant, obedient, and energetic student with a strong determination to succeed academically. After completing Class 10, he was at serious risk of having to discontinue his studies due to financial constraints.
At that critical time, Global Compassion Foundation identified Jagat as a promising candidate for support and, through diligent outreach, secured a generous sponsor from the United States who agreed to fund his education starting from Class 11.
As a result of this support, Jagat continued his academic journey and is now in his final year of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). He pursues his degree at The ICFAI University, a UGC-recognized private university established under the Mizoram State Legislature. The university is empowered by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to award degrees and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), London, UK — credentials that affirm its academic legitimacy and standing.
According to independent global ranking data, The ICFAI University, Mizoram is ranked among the universities in India and holds positions within global and regional higher-education listings, highlighting its presence in the academic landscape.
Jagat has demonstrated commitment, academic diligence, and leadership throughout his studies. As he approaches the completion of his BBA, he now aspires to pursue an MBA to further strengthen his skills and career opportunities. However, his current sponsorship will conclude once he completes his BBA, and he will require new sponsorship support to continue into postgraduate studies.
Jagat’s academic progress is a testament to what a young person can achieve when given the opportunity and support. With continued assistance, he can build a future that will also contribute positively to his family and community.
