An interactive mercury map is available below for the Wisconsin lakes where GLIFWC member tribes harvest maazhiginoozhe. Each lake on the map displays how many meals of maazhiginoozhe per month from that lake have been deemed safe to eat. Fewer meals are recommended for children under the age of 15 and women of childbearing age in order to protect the developing brain of the fetus or child from the potential detrimental effects of mercury. To reduce your exposure, GLIFWC recommends that you limit the number of servings of musky eaten per month due to mercury in these fish. Follow the instructions below to promote the safe consumption of maazhiginoozhe. Instructions on how to use the maps are found below and on the left dashboard panel of the map. Scroll down to view the interactive maazhiginoozhe map or click the button below to view in a separate link.
