This "Top 100 New Wave Songs" Spotify playlist is gonna stay in front of this section for a while. First encountered this list at Digital DreamDoor (or DDD).
New wave and MTV influenced my eclectic taste in music. The eighties was a great time to listen to music. And to watch! This Youtube video tells about the MTV's first airing and the very first batch of VJ's.
(First time to embed a Spotify playlist -- tell me how this was for you in "Talkback." Thanks.)

R.E.M.
"Everybody Hurts" from Automatic for the People
"Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries, and everybody hurts sometimes"

Jason Mraz
"Absolutely Zero" from Waiting for My Rocket to Come
"Hey, what's that you say? You're not blaming me for anything, that's great, but I don't break that easy. Does it fade away? So that's why I'm apologizing now for telling you I thought that we could make it. I just don't get enough to believe that we've both changed."

"And so it is, the shorter story, no love, no glory, no hero in her sky"

Sinead O'Connor
"Nothing Compares 2 U" from I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got
"It's been so lonely without you here, like a bird without a song. Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling. Tell me, baby, where did I go wrong?"
