Revised Feb 2019
1. As of Mar 1st, if playing on regular greens, you must post your adjusted scores in a timely basis, either on the computer in the Eaglesnest or using the RCGA website from home unless unfavorable course conditions dictate a delay for posting as advised by the Captain. All scores from other Courses must also be posted.
2. Nine-hole scores may be entered individually. The computer will combine them even if an 18-hole game is played in between elsewhere. All play is from the back or Black tees shown as Black in the computer, whether playing 9 or 18 holes.
3. Winter Rules allow the player to lift, clean and replace the ball within 6 inches through the green no closer to the hole, without penalty. This will be in effect until the Captain or Handicap Chair dictate that Summer Rules, i.e. playing the ball down as it lies, are in effect.
4. Bunkers may be raked and the ball replaced without penalty when animal or foot prints, or other conditions not created by the ball, are deemed to create an unfair lie.
5. Year round, a ball embedded in its own pitch-mark may be lifted and replaced as near as possible to its original spot, no nearer the hole, without penalty. If an embedded ball is lost, another ball may be dropped at the estimated point of loss without penalty provided there is agreement that the ball was lost in this manner.
6. Relief without penalty is allowed from all protective screens, support poles and cables and other man-made structures, such as the wall of cement bags on the right side of the green on #2 and the bridge on #5, when stance, swing or line of flight is affected. This also applies to the rock in the fairway on #3 and #6. Take nearest relief not nearer the hole. This does not apply to perimeter fences.
7. Stroke and distance alternative: If a ball is hit out of bounds or could be lost, a provisional ball should be played. However, to avoid undue delay, if a provisional ball has not been played and the original ball is not found, the player may take a penalty of 2 strokes and drop a ball within 2 club lengths from the edge of the fairway at the nearest point where the ball is believed to have been lost.
8. Red staked environmental areas on hole #1 and #2 are played as a lateral hazard, i.e. one stroke penalty from point of entry. Also any ground under repair areas allow a free drop, no closer to the hole.
9. On #5, if a ball is hit into the creek area left of the wooden bridge, a player may re tee or utilize the drop zone on the fairway incurring a one stroke penalty, i.e. hitting 3.
10. The trees/shrubs behind the 4th green are part of the course and no longer qualify for a free drop. The ball should be played as it lies or proceed under the unplayable ball rule, one option being drop the ball within 2 club lengths not nearer the hole, invoking a one stroke penalty.
Without going into all the details of the hole rating and the players handicap I hope the following simplifies how we handle the scoring for those, who, for physical reasons, are not able to complete playing the 3rd hole.
There are 2 components.
1.First is a regular golf rule that states to record a score on a `hole not played the player would record ‘ par plus any strokes he is entitled to based on his handicap and the holes rating.
For simplicity a player who has a handicap of 18 or less ( 9 for 9 holes ) is entitled to one handicap stroke plus par when entering his score or a par 4 plus 1 for a total of 5.
Those with a handicap of 19 to 36 would record a par plus 2 for a total of 6.
Those with a handicap of 37 or higher would record par plus 3 for a total of 7
2.The second part of this situation is a Men`s local rule which allows a player who doesn`t play hole #3 to proceed to the temporary tee area at the bottom of the hole on #4 and is deemed to be laying one.
The players 2nd shot on hole #4 is from a drop ( not teed up) in the general area of the temporary tee and proceeds from there recording whatever his total score for the hole ends up being. The temporary green on the left side of the #3 fairway can be ignored as it is currently, not officially, part of the course.
Note. Not playing #3 is not an option and is only available to those who are physically unable to climb the hill.
It must be approved by the captain before playing
