¡Andalucía, España, tiene mucho sol en los veranos y es muy versátil! En el oeste de Andalucía hay mucha precipitación. La temperatura usualmente no está muy alta, pero como llegas más al este, hay altas temperaturas y un clima semiárido.

¡En las noches, no hay mucha polución de luz y puedes ver el centro de la Vía Láctea! También, la región tiene muchos observatorios astronómicos como el Observatorio Astronómico de Calar Alto.

Una Tradición del Verano en Argentina

Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia: Este festival ocurre cada año en la ciudad de Mendoza, Argentina, y es uno de los festivales más famosos del país.

Cuándo: durante la vendimia (la cosecha de las uvas), usualmente la primera semana de marzo.
Donde: Principalmente en la provincia de Jujuy y Salta
Celebra: vino y la industria del vino en Argentina
Cómo se celebra: Todo comienza con el desentierro del diablo. ¡Durante una semana, las calles se llenan de música folclórica y más! Al final de la semana, el carnaval termina con el entierro del diablo.

Gazpacho

Una sopa de España hecha con tomates, pepinos, y pimientos.

Salmorejo

Una sopa similar al gazpacho (porque también tiene tomates), pero tiene huevos y jamón serrano.

Ajoblanco

Una sopa también de España, pero hecha de almendras y tiene uvas encima de la sopa.

Melón con Jamón

Una tapa de España hecha con jamón serrano o ibérico. El sabor es complejo pero muy rico.

Pulpo a la Gallega

Una tapa de Galicia, España. Los ingredients importantes son pulpo y patatas.

Boquerones en Vinagre

Los boquerones son un tipo de pescado y esta tapa es muy popular in Andalucía, España.

粽子是一种传统的端午节食物。粽子里面的馅儿有咸的也有甜的。很常见的一种甜馅儿是红豆。

As always, I would like to give you all a super brief Chinese lesson. In the past, we have talked about many common topics, including foods and even grammar, but now I'd like to talk about some famous tourist sites in China.

Summer in France is well known for its relaxed vibe, beautiful beaches, and many, many of its castles. One of the most famous places to visit during the summer is the French Riviera, where you can find beaches overlooking the Mediterranean Ocean and Boardwalks with tons of fun carnival games and restaurants. In addition to that, the Loire Valley holds many magnificent castles, one of its most famous being Le Château de Chambord, which took nearly 140 years to complete, starting in 1519. Well-maintained botanical gardens can be found in every large city, with common summer flowers being lavenders, sunflowers, and colorful hydrangeas.

Roman Clothing Year-Round:

Because of Italy's distinct seasonal changes, Romans often wore different garb depending on the weather. In summer, men would usually wear breathable clothes such as tunics compared to their classic togas. Alternatively, women would wear sleeveless dresses. In the winter, Romans would often wear more layers, along with thicker clothes overall. They would often wear cloaks and other similar garments over their other clothes. Besides these pieces, they would wear general items such as sandals and tunics all year round.

ASL (American Sign Language)

A Look Into the 'Birthplace' of ASL:

Despite millions of people relying on ASL to communicate with others, many people don't know the exact origin and history of how it all came to be. American Sign Language is a rich language with its own unique grammar, completely separate from other languages. ASL originated right here during the early 19th century in Hartford, Connecticut, where the American School for the Deaf became the very first permanent school for deaf children from grades K-12. It is now located in our town of West Hartford!

Before the school opened, deaf students from all over the country had to rely on their own unique 'home signs' developed with their families. This led to a diverse mix of community signs in the Hartford dorms. ASL was heavily influenced by Clerc's French Sign Language, which helped it evolve into the language that is used by millions today!
