My name is Grace W. and I am currently earning my bachelor's degree in Technical Communication. I used to be in Software Engineering, but found that front-end coding, data analytics, and user design were more of my "thing" and I wanted to branch out. I am also pursuing a Masters in User Experience at ASU.
I was born and raised in Prescott, Arizona but spent a lot of time in Phoenix doing a plethora of sports such as gymnastics, pole vaulting, track, and swimming. I also have two cats, one is black and named Sunshine, one is a gray tabby named Crackers, and two dogs, Pups and Senior. My hobbies include gaming, anime, nutrition/health and fitness!
From an early age, I knew that I wanted to go into the technology industry due to my comfort with technology as a whole. I got into coding due to my dad, who's always worked in technology and had access to it. I've always had my own computer and worked on them, switching out parts and solving software issues.
In high school I sought out opportunities in the field, participating in the summer immersion program for Girls Who Code at Blizzard Entertainment and completing two years at West-MEC, a JTED (college dual enrollment) program in AZ during high school in their full-stack web development program. When participating in those programs, I realized that women were not a focus and lacking presence as a whole. It is now a goal of mine to join the field and make it more inviting for all women to participate.
