Junior Racing

GIYC belongs to several regional organizations which sponsor youth regattas.  Sailors can grow their skills, have fun and meet other sailors from around the area.  Participants can borrow club owned boats.  Parental involvement is required for participation in racing (i.e. attendance and supervision at regattas, trailering of boats to events, participation in fundraisers, etc.).

GIYC Junior Race Training - Regattas

Parental Involvement

Parent support is crucial to the success of the racing program particularly where it involves traveling to regattas for the sailors to compete.  The loading and unloading of boats and equipment, the towing of trailers and support for the team on the water is a significant logistical endeavor and will not happen without parent volunteers.

Thank you to the Associated Yacht Clubs for their sponsorship of the Carson Cup Regatta.  Junior sailors and their parents from around the area enjoyed a great day on racing in Western Lake Erie.
