Ginestas Village

The village is situated slightly raised in the Aude valley with the Gite overlooking the village to the North.

Within a very short walk into the village you have a bank with ATM, Boulangerie & Epicerie, small Alimentation, Tabac, Pharmacy , Doctor, three bars, two Restaurants and a wine and Tapas bar

The bar in the small square, Les Trois Petits Cochons also serves lunch. It really is a great place to go to, excellent simple food and very often live music and a party atmosphere here that flows onto the square. Next to the Mairie is La Table du Casino which is excellent and very popular, numerous evenings include live music a nd Cedric and Lucy will make you very welcome.

L'Anais

The Wine bar L'Oncle Jules, open Thursday to Saturday at 1830 also Tuesday July & August, it is a great place for wine and Tapas and very frequently in the season musical evenings, where if you are lucky you may see and hear someone famous.

They also now serve a variety of beers some of which are made locally. Don't miss this, our guests have really enjoyed this.

Village Life - 2019 was the start of open air live music, food and drink EVERY Wednesday evening in the village. This was such a huge success by everyone. A truly International Party enjoyed by many of the Gîte guests. Don't miss it if you are here in July/August.

Market day is a Thursday with a small number of stalls selling Fruit, Veg, and Meat.

This area is famous for its wine, especially Rosé and Red's with the red's being characteristically full bodied. The local Cave La Ginesto sells draft or Bag in Box by the 5L or bottles. Usually open in the mornings Mon-Fri only. Héritage is an oak barrel matured red, full of body and flavour.

Canal du Midi

The Canal du Midi is about 1 kilometre away from the Gîte and is a pleasant gentle walk along the Chemin de la Garde and you can turn left at the canal and walk to the pretty village of Le Somail with a few restaurants or turn right to Ventenac with its pretty port and its elegant Cave and restaurants.

Supermarkets

InterMarché is located less than 5 minutes drive away on the outskirts of the village of St. Marcel. It also has 24/24 fuel and a Launderette.

You will also find Aldi a minute further away and lots of small shops supplying Fruit & Veg, seafood etc.
