This Ph.D. course is part of the (broader) "Mathematical Kaleidoscope III" course, within the doctoral program “Mathematics,
Physics, and Computational Science” at Aalborg University.
Aims: Understanding of the basic concepts in quantum mechanics (by dealing with finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces), and then the core of the adiabatic perturbation theory, withing the framework of physical/statistical interpretations of the mathematical objects.
Program: This course is self-contained. It consists of two parts: gentle introduction to quantum theory and the adiabatic theorem for gapped systems with its proof, and its physical interpretations/applications. Total hours: 14.
Class Schedule: on 26-27 October, 2023, 9-12 (theory) & 14-17 (exercise class)
Lecture notes: First lecture & Second lecture.
Exercise sheets: available in the Moodle channel.
