In this project I took some writings out of my journal and "fed" them to ChatGPT for a week. After the week, I deleted all the chats and gave the AI a simple prompt - to write a memoir about the ocean - and it came up with a story that had many similarities to my journal entries.
I also told the engine to write different parts of the memoir in different styles, and I told my classmates this piece was written by a "shadow writer", but I did not tell them it was AI made. At the end of the project, some people could guess it was a product of AI due to re-using of specific sentence structures or words.
This project was born from a concern about privacy and handling of data with AI, as ChatGPT had clearly not forgotten my entries (probably due to caching and the web browser "holding onto" my data).
