First of all, I must say that I really enjoyed the experience of taking notes. I had never done a similar activity before, so I was also curious about it. Also the explanation was very clear and easy to follow, and that was a good aspect. On the other hand, it was interesting to see how our brain worked to accomplish the assigned task. When we are not familiar with something, like driving or riding a bike, it is very difficult for us, but when we keep doing it our brain understands it and change our way on doint it making it easier, like saying well if you insist in doing this I will improve in order to making it faster and having less energy wasted. Now, since I am not good with Roman numbers I decided to use another method which was to use symbols. I already knew the symbols because I have used them before, so it was easy for me to copy the numbers that were dictated. On one occasion I tried to use another type of symbol and it was more difficult. I think this is why it is very important to work with established techniques, because it makes the work easier, and it also allows a universal language to exist. 

This is similar to doctors who write in a certain way, and use key words that only those related to medicine understand. This allows that even if the patient does not understand what his prescription indicates, the pharmacy and health people understand what it says and can also give him the correct treatment. Also with the activity I was able to realize how my skills were and how much I still have to learn and improve to be able to perform as a translator. Although it may seem simple, the role of a translator is difficult and also very important. The translator transmits a message and has the task of ensuring that this message reaches the receiver just as the sender transmits it. So if the source emphasizes a certain part, the translator should do the same with his translation.

En primer lugar, debo decir que disfruté mucho de la experiencia de tomar notas. Nunca antes había realizado una actividad similar, por lo que también sentía curiosidad. Además, la explicación fue muy clara y fácil de seguir, y eso fue un buen aspecto. Por otra parte, fue interesante ver cómo funcionaba nuestro cerebro para realizar la tarea asignada. Cuando no estamos familiarizados con algo, como conducir o manejar bici, nos resulta muy difícil, pero cuando seguimos haciéndolo nuestro cerebro lo entiende y cambia nuestra forma de hacerlo haciéndolo más fácil, como diciendo bueno si insistes en hacer esto voy a mejorar para hacerlo más rápido y gastar menos energía. Ahora, como no manejo bien los números romanos decidí usar otro método que era usar símbolos. Yo ya conocía los símbolos porque los había usado antes, así que me fue fácil copiar los números que me dictaban. En una ocasión intenté utilizar otro tipo de símbolos y me resultó más difícil. Creo que por eso es muy importante trabajar con técnicas establecidas, porque facilita el trabajo y además permite que exista un lenguaje universal. 

Esto es similar a los médicos que escriben de una determinada manera y utilizan palabras clave que sólo entienden quienes están relacionados con la medicina. Esto permite que aunque el paciente no entienda lo que indica su receta, la farmacia y el personal entiendan lo que dice y puedan darle también el tratamiento correcto. También con la actividad pude darme cuenta de cuáles eran mis destrezas y cuánto me falta por aprender y mejorar para poder desempeñarme como traductora. Aunque parezca sencillo, el papel de un traductor es difícil y también muy importante. El traductor transmite un mensaje y tiene la tarea de asegurarse de que ese mensaje llegue al receptor tal y como lo transmite el emisor. Por eso, si la fuente hace hincapié en una parte determinada, el traductor debe hacer lo mismo con su traducción.
