My first name "Gideon" is of Hebrew origin and is derived from the Hebrew name "גִּדְעוֹן" (Gid'on), which translates to "hewer" or “feller,” meaning “one who cuts down" or "mighty warrior."
It originates from the Biblical figure Gideon (Book of Judges), a judge and military leader who led the Israelites to victory against the Midianites.
My parents, per their faith, named me after this Biblical figure.
