PSY-328 Project: Personality in the Work Environment, Teamwork, and Coping Mechanisms.
This project was an important learning milestone in my educational journey, as it encouraged me to analyze my own personality through the knowledge acquired in the Theories of Personality class (PSY-328). I then applied this analysis to reflect how I would function in the work environment according to my personality traits, social skills, and coping mechanisms.
In this project, I examined the biological, developmental, social, and situational influences that contributed to Andrea Yates' criminal actions. Completing this analysis deepened my understanding of how criminal behavior often arises from a complex interplay of various factors. By evaluating Yates' severe mental illness, religious influences, family circumstances, and interactions with the healthcare system, I gained a greater appreciation for the importance of considering multiple perspectives when analyzing a case.
In project two, I analyzed the Zodiac Killer case using publicly available crime scene information, witness statements, behavioral research, and profiling techniques. Throughout the project, I examined patterns across the confirmed attacks, evaluated possible motives, and discussed future investigative strategies. Completing this project increased my understanding of how behavioral evidence can be used to support criminal investigations while also highlighting the limitations of profiling.
