In addition to the main academic departments, there are several others that exist or have existed in the past.
Gifted & Talented
The high school had a part-time Gifted & Talented Ed Tech from 2008 to 2016, and since 2018 has had a full-time Gifted & Talented teacher, as part of the Gorham Schools' SAIL program.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy services were added in 1996 with a part-time speech therapist, assisting students with their language and speech work.
Library
A standard school library was first built in 1951 as part of the new addition on the old high school, now the Gorham Municipal Center. A librarian position was added in 1953, as a part-time duty of a high school teacher. The library originally was not very large, and due to overcrowding ended up being used as a classroom.
When the current high school was built, a library was built on the second floor but still was not very large.
The librarian position was still part-time until 1965, when it became full-time. Up until 1965 the position was part-time, with the librarian serving when they were not teaching regular classes.
In 1968, to aid the librarian, the position of Library Assistant was created. There were as many as three assistants, but then there were two, and starting in 1982, just one assistant. This position was cut in 2022, and there is just one full-time librarian at GHS today.
In 1972, the new addition being finished added a new library, combined with an open concept area with 10 classrooms surrounding the library.
In 1995, the new library moved into part of the former cafeteria, and the former library and open concept area was converted into the new cafeteria.
It was later dedicated as the Lorraine O. Stickney Library, named for the librarian who had served 38 years at GHS, from 1961 until her retirement in 1999.
Secretaries/Administrative Assistants
Secretaries and administrative assistants have been a part of Gorham High School since the 1950s. They assist administration in the day-to-day tasks of running a school or department within the school.
The first mention of a school secretary was in an early 1950s yearbook, but no first name was given, and she was not in the faculty section. Starting in 1960, the school secretary was given a place in the faculty section of the yearbook, and has remained that way since.
In 1964 a Guidance Secretary was added to assist the two guidance counselors in their office with scheduling, paperwork, etc.
In 1974 a second office secretary was hired, bringing the total to 3.
The number has varied over the years, but there are currently 6 secretaries/administrative assistants at Gorham High School: 2 for the main office, 2 for the guidance office, 1 for attendance, and 1 for athletics. They are all very important to the smooth operation of Gorham High School.
Social Workers
Gorham High School has had social work services since the fall of 1995. A part-time social worker served GHS as well as the junior high/middle school. In 2003, a second social worker was hired. In 2004, a third social worker was hired, but the position was cut in 2006.
In 2014 a third social worker, specifically for Special Education, was hired, and in 2025 a fourth social worker, also for Special Education, was hired, part-time between GHS and Village School.
