Gorham School Department has had 16 full-time superintendents, plus 6 shared with the City of Westbrook, for a total of 22.
From 1908 to 1955, Gorham and Westbrook schools shared a superintendent with each locale splitting the cost of salary.
During times without a superintendent, the three-person School Committee governed instead.

Prescott Keyes
Superintendent, Gorham & Westbrook, 1908-1918
Prescott Keyes was the first superintendent of the school union between Gorham and Westbrook. Each municipality paid part of the superintendent's salary and he would oversee all schools in both Gorham and Westbrook.

Anthony Brackett

Anthony Brackett served as the last superintendent to be shared between Gorham and Westbrook, from 1947-1955.
NOTES
Last superintendent to be shared between Gorham and Westbrook, a union that had existed since 1908.
Under his administration, Gorham builds an addition to Gorham High School in 1951.
Dwight Webb
Superintendent, 1955-1971
Dwight Webb was a progressive superintendent and the first full-time superintendent since 1908 in Gorham. During his tenure in this role, the facilities of the schools were improved and the curriculum updated.
NOTES
Gorham High School graduate, class of 1932 and currently the only superintendent to have graduated from GHS.
Under his administration, several new schools/additions are built:
Little Falls Elementary School is built in 1956. This school closed in 2004.
A new Gorham High School is built in 1959.
White Rock Elementary School is built in 1962. This school closed in 2011.
Village Elementary School is built in 1963.
Two additions were built onto Gorham High School in 1971-72.
The final rural schoolhouse, the old White Rock School in Gorham closes in 1962, replaced by the new White Rock Elementary School, which has also since closed.
Woodbury Saunders
Superintendent, 1971-1983
Woodbury Saunders was superintendent from 1971-1983. He carried on some of his predecessor, Dwight Webb's, facilities improvement and curriculum improvements.
NOTES
A major addition and gymnasium are built on the Charles C. Shaw Junior High School in 1978. The building had served as the high school from 1939-1959.
Charlotte Millett Elementary School, formerly the junior high school built in 1924, closed in 1981 and was razed shortly after.
Narragansett Elementary School in the village opens in 1981.
Much of the glass windows at White Rock, Village and the high school are removed due to the energy crisis in 1979, and covered by insulated panels.
Constance Goldman
Superintendent, 1983-1990
Constance Goldman served as superintendent from 1983-1990. During her tenure the schools experienced growth in curriculum, and especially in overcrowding.

First female superintendent in Gorham.
Village Elementary School receives a major expansion and renovation in 1989.
Timothy McCormack
Superintendent, 1990-1997
Timothy McCormack served for seven years and is probably the most known superintendent in Gorham. Under his administration the district experienced overcrowding and new curriculum.
NOTES
Gorham High School's window-walls were removed, having been partially covered since 1979 due to the energy crisis at the time. They were replaced with the current design in 1991.
The most major and recent addition and renovation project was completed at Gorham High School in 1995, doubling the size, adding new athletic facilities, new parking lots, and an auditorium.
Gorham High School's new auditorium named for him (Timothy W. McCormack Performing Arts Center) in 1997.
Roy Bishop III
Interim Superintendent, 1997-1998
Roy Bishop served as interim superintendent for the 1997-1998 school year.
Irene Bender
Superintendent, 1998-1999
Irene Bender served as superintendent for the 1998-1999 school year before resigning to take another job closer to her home.
Michael Moore
Superintendent, 1999-2004
Michael Moore served as superintendent from 1999-2004. During his tenure many improvements were made to the school department.
NOTES
The new Gorham Middle School opened in 2003. Seventh and eighth graders moved over, while the sixth grade was moved to the former Little Falls School for the 2003-04 school year.
Charles C. Shaw Middle School closed after 64 years in use as a high school and junior high/middle school, in 2003.
Kindergarten is moved from the Little Falls Kindergarten Center building to Narragansett and White Rock Schools in 2003.
Little Falls Kindergarten Center, formerly the Little Falls Elementary School, is used as the Little Falls 6th Grade Center for 2003-04, and then closes as a school.
Theodore Sharp
Superintendent, 2004-2015
Theodore 'Ted' Sharp served as Gorham's superintendent from 2004-2015. His tenure was one of the most well-known.
NOTES
The sixth grade was moved from the now-closed Little Falls building to the new Gorham Middle School in 2004.
White Rock Elementary School closes in 2011 after 49 years in use.
Great Falls Elementary School, Gorham's newest school building, opens in 2011 to replace the old White Rock School.
All three of Gorham's elementary schools become K-5 schools in 2011 with the opening of Great Falls.
Heather Perry
Superintendent, 2015-present
Heather Perry is the current superintendent of Gorham Schools.
NOTES
JMG program added to Gorham High School under her recommendation in 2016.
Narragansett Elementary School receives modular additions and a new cafeteria and kitchen from 2020-2022.
Gorham High School is set to receive modular additions in 2026.

Christopher Record served as the Gorham High School principal from 2008-2016, and was then promoted to Assistant Superintendent.
Brian Porter
Assistant Superintendent, 2021-2024
Brian Porter served as the principal of Village Elementary School since the 1990s, and became Assistant Superintendent in 2021. He retired in 2024.
Quinton Donahue
Assistant Superintendent, 2024-present
Quinton Donahue was the principal of Gorham Middle School from 2019-2024, before he became Assistant Superintendent in 2024.
There have been 28 principals of Gorham High School, and all have been men thus far.
William Bryant
Principal, 1880-1883
William Bryant served as the first principal of Gorham High School from the school's founding in 1880 to 1883. The first graduating class was in 1883, and was his only graduating class.

William Curtis served as the second principal of Gorham High School from 1883-1885.

Frank Davis served as the third principal of Gorham High School from 1885-1887.
Irving Horne
Principal, fall 1887
Irving Horne was the fourth principal of Gorham High School, in fall 1887. He resigned shortly into the school year to take a position elsewhere.

Oliver Sewall was the fifth principal of Gorham High School.

Willard Woodman
Principal, 1889; 1890-1900
Willard Woodman was the sixth principal of Gorham High School for fall 1889. He resigned to become the superintendent for the 1889-1890 school year, then returned as the eighth principal in 1890.

Horatio Card, a graduate of the Gorham High School class of 1883, was the seventh principal of Gorham High School during Willard Woodman's absence.

Charles C. Shaw was the tenth principal and longest-serving at Gorham High School, for a total of 34 years.

Eugene Rourke
Principal, 1950-1955
Eugene Rourke was the sixteenth principal of Gorham High School, and the first Guidance Director, from 1950-1955. He was the first to not also teach courses in addition to his administrative duties.

Industrial Arts department created in 1953, with program being held on the campus of the Gorham State Teachers College.

Ralph Hudson served as the seventeenth principal of Gorham High School for the 1955-1956 school year.
N. Allen Savage
Principal, 1956-1957
N. Allen Savage served as the eighteenth principal of Gorham High School for the 1956-1957 school year.
Charles Delano
Principal, 1957-1968
Charles Delano, former Agriculture teacher and Athletic Director, became the nineteenth principal in 1957. Lots of change occurred at GHS during his tenure as principal.
NOTES
Industrial Arts addition built onto the Agriculture shop in 1958, moving the classes to the high school campus from the college.
Guidance program reinstated in 1958 after being absent since 1955.
New and modern Gorham High School built in 1959 to replace the aging and overcrowded building. New building features a gymnasium/auditorium, cafeteria/kitchen, library, and many more classrooms.
Physical Education/Health program added in 1959, at first separated by boys and girls.
Agriculture cut in 1964 and Industrial Arts curriculum expanded.
Philip Dugas
Principal, 1968-1973
Philip Dugas, formerly a teacher and Guidance Director at Gorham High, became the school's twentieth principal in 1968.
NOTES
Art was added for the 1969-70 school year.
Double sessions where grades 7-8 would attend for half a day, and 9-12 for the other half, happened during 1970-1971 and 1971-1972 due to overcrowding.
Two additions were built onto Gorham High School in 1972, and an addition to the gym was built. The additions included more classroom space in an open concept area, a gym addition and upstairs gym, music classroom, Industrial Arts shop within the school, and a new library.
Mark Eastman
Principal, 1973-1979
Mark Eastman became the twenty-first principal of Gorham High School in 1973, and held the position until 1979.
NOTES
Spanish added to the World Languages department in 1974. A full-time Spanish teacher was hired in 1975.
Philip Blood
Principal, 1979-1988
Philip Blood became the twenty-second principal in 1979 and held the position until 1988.
NOTES
Most of the glass in the high school windows were removed and covered by insulated panels in 1979, darkening the building.
Portables were added to the high school campus in 1985, and are still used today.
Gunnar Hagstrom, Jr.
Principal, 1988-1993
Gunnar Hagstrom, Jr. became Gorham High's twenty-third principal, serving from 1988-1993.
NOTES
Industrial Arts was restructured into Technology Education in 1988 to modernize its curriculum.
The window walls, having been covered since 1979, were replaced with the current design in 1991.
Stephen Rogers
Principal, 1993-1997
Stephen Rogers became the twenty-fourth principal in 1993 following one year as Assistant Principal, and the high school changed quite a bit during his tenure.
NOTES
The State of Maine approved funding for the renovation and construction on Gorham High School in 1993. Finished in 1995, the new renovations and construction included:
A new gymnasium; the old was converted to a 750 seat auditorium
New two-story classroom wing by former entrance of school
New two-story office/classroom wing at side of building
All interior spaces renovated, some classrooms reconfigured
New Home Economics classroom built, only used for 1994-95 school year
New Business/Technology classrooms built
Former cafeteria gutted and converted into several Technology classrooms
Former open concept area converted into the new library, with a three-office addition built onto the wing, and nurse's office, conference room, teachers' room and restrooms also built in the space
Upper gymnasium removed and replaced by Science classrooms and a hallway
New student lobby and vestibule built at the back of the school
Two new Art rooms and one shared Music room built; the old Music room converted into a Technology classroom
School's exterior design changed
New and improved athletic fields and facilities
Due to renovations, Gorham High School's staff increased from 55 in 1992-93 to 75 in 1996-97.
Business and Home Economics both eliminated in 1995 due to budget cuts and restructuring.
Earle Tourtillotte
Principal, 1997-1998
Earle Tourtillotte served as the twenty-fifth principal for one year, 1997-1998. He was apparently asked not to return after 1998, according to a book by a HS teacher. Mr. Tourtillotte was the first principal to only serve one school year since N. Allen Savage during the 1956-57 school year, and currently the most recent principal to only serve one year.
John Drisko
Principal, 1998-2008
John Drisko became GHS' twenty-sixth principal, and served from 1998-2008. He had previously taught Social Studies at the high school since 1995.
NOTES
GHS' largest enrollment to date occurred in 2006-2007, with 892 students enrolled.

Principal, 2008-2016
Christopher Record was the twenty-seventh principal of Gorham High School from 2008-2016 before moving up to Assistant Superintendent.
NOTES
Guidance program evolves from three counselors to four in 2012.
Known for banning school dances in 2015 due to "grinding."
Brian Jandreau
Principal, 2016-present
Brian Jandreau is the twenty-eighth and current principal of Gorham High School, since 2016. He previously served as Assistant Principal from 2013-2016.
NOTES
Reinstated school dances after his predecessor banned them.
JMG program established in 2016.
Gifted & Talented program established in 2018.
Alternative Education is cut in 2021 due to budget cuts, but is reinstated in 2024.
Extended Learning Opportunities program established in 2022.
