Scarps
A scarp or escarpment can be described as an inland cliff (W. G. Moore, "A Dictionary of Geography"). The characteristic of the feature is a gentle slope leading up to the cliff on one side with a steep slope or vertical face on the other leading down to lower terrain. The cause may be a fault, followed by erosion. In Ghana, scarps are very extensive (~100km) and in places very high (~300m) .
