Humans decode images all the time, that is why we have symbols that cross language barriers. The Spanish artist Pablo Picasso created a number of lithographs of a bull to try and find the essence of a bull, the "bullness" of the animal; the idea of a bull. Take a look at the images below and see what he managed to whittle the image down to. What is it in that last, spare drawing that clearly identifies it as a bull?

It is one thing to hear about AI but what is it like to work with it?

We are going to have some fun getting to know how AI "learns" to identify objects.
Step One:

In groups of three, take turns to challenge one another to recognise an object that you draw in 20 seconds.
Person one chooses the object they want to draw.
Person two has to interpret the image and name the object in 20 seconds.
Person three is the time keeper.
Each take two turns and note the time it takes to recognise the object on the drawing.

Once you have completed the drawings, click on each individually and see how the computer worked out the identity of the object.
