Teyvat consists of 7 nations, each with a unique element, an Archon of that element, an Ideal that nation revolves around and a governing body. Monstadt is the Anemo nation with Barbatos (Venti) as its Archon, Freedom as its ideal, and The Knights of Favonius as its governing body. Liyue is the Geo nation with Morax (Zhongli) as its Archon, Contracts as its ideal, and the Liyue Qizing as its governing body. Inazuma is the  electro nation with Beelzebul (Raiden Shogun) as its Archon, eternity as its ideal, and the Inazuma Shogunate as its governing body. Sumeru is the nation of Dendro with Buer (Nahida) as its archon, wisdom as its ideal, and the Sumeru Akademiya as its governing body. Fontaine is the nation of Hydro without any archon, Justice as its ideal and Palais Mermonia as its governing body. Natlan is the nation of Pyro, the God of War is its archon, its Ideal is war, and its governing body is unknown. Lastly, Snezhnaya is the nation of Cryo, its archon is the Tsaritsa, and both its ideal and governing body is unknown

Khaenri'ah was an ancient civilization destroyed 500 years ago in the cataclysm during the fall of the Eclipse dynasty. All that is known is that it was an underground civilization that thrived off alchemy, what they called the Art of Khemia. Celestia is a floating island where the gods are said to reside, and it is believed some mortals are chosen to ascend to godhood. The Dark Sea is the regions beyond Teyvat where many of the defeated gods in the Archon War went rather than live under the archons' rule. Decarbian's Monstadt was the original city of Monstadt located in what is now Stormterror's lair, which was under the rule of Decarbian, the God of storms. Barbatos rose with the rebels to defeat Decarbian and create today's Monstadt. Sal Vindagnyr was a civilization on Dragonspine which was said to have direct communication with Celestia, their society came to an end when Celestia sent down the Skyfrost Nail, destroying their Irminsul and creating the frozen scape it is today. The Guili Assembly was the civilization jointly ruled by Morax, the god of Geo, and Ghuizhong, the god of Dust, but their nation was destroyed and Ghuizhong killed, Morax built Liyue harbor from its remains 3700 years ago. Sal Terrae was the last piece of terriotry held by Havria, the god of salt, before her death in the Archon War, because she was gentle but weak, the people did not believe she could defend them so they killed her out of mercy, but the power surged from her body and turned them all to salt. The Chasm was an ancient civilization that existed during the time of the Moon Sisters, it has similarities to both Khaenri'ah and Enkanomiya, its people used the solar chariot to create Glazed Sand Crystal. Tsurumi Island was home to 2 civilizations, the pre-thunderbird civilization and the thunderbird civilization which followed the thunderbird, the thunderbird civilization was destroyed by the thunderbird however after the sacrifice of the thunderbird's favorite child. Watatsumi Island was an independent nation ruled by Obarashi and the shrine maidens. Obarashi attacked Yashiori island starting a war with Inazuma that led to Obarashi's death at the hands of Ei who was the kagemusha of Makoto at that time. The Sanganomiya clan surrendered and Watatsumi was absorbed into Inazuma. Enkanomiya was the precursor to Watatsumi island civilization, they had a thriving culture with an artificial sun to keep away vishaps and the Jibashiri, a skilled militia, to protect them. King Deshret's Civilizations were those built by him, Nabu Malikata, and Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. Ay-Khanoum was the first city created. Their alliance later broke, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata went to create her own  city, Nabu Malikata died, and Deshret created the eternal oasis. The city Gurabad was created and fell. When the first Forbidden Knowledge plague ocurred, Deshret sacrificed himself to seal it, and most of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata's power was absorbed. Deshret's civilization fell soon after and city states such as Saleh and Tulaytullah rose up, but these cities also fell, leaving Aaruu vilage with the survivors. Remuria was an ancient civilization ruled by Remus before the hydro archon, Egeria's rule.
