The goal of GenExchange is to connect and create community by swapping stories and skills. Youth and older adults will spend time building relationships to nurture a new community, sharing their stories and their skills to create a digital artifact.

This is an open-ended project. There is no one-size-fits-all or expectation of what the final project will look like.
In person, you will get to know your fellow participants. From there, you will choose the skill or story you want to highlight. Determine the best medium to bring the skill or story to life.
Afterwards, we will showcase all partnership collaborations, celebrating new knowledge gained and skills that have been developed.
This initiative is designed to create community, both in person and online. Everyone learns by participating, doing, creating. In joining this initiative, you are building community in person, as well as joining an online community.

This depends on who is creating. When you get to know your partner, think about:

This is what brings us together as people. Do something that you both enjoy or are interested in learning.

Everyone has something to offer. In the get to know you phase, you will discover what each of you brings to the team.

Connect: Post your introduction and indicate your interests (e.g., gardening, music, sports, crafts, storytelling).
Match: We'll pair you with someone who shares or complements your interests.
Plan: Meet with your partner to get to know each other, share stories, skills, ideas and brainstorm your project idea.
Create: Work together to produce a media artifact—examples include:
Short video documentary
Podcast episode
Photo story
Digital artwork
Written story or blog post
Share: Upload your artifact to the GenExchange site gallery.
Celebrate & Reflect: Enjoy sharing and viewing the projects of others, while reflecting on what you've gained from your experience.
