Early on Sunday morning, we met at Thessaloniki Airport, full of excitement and curiosity. After our flight to Rome and a short layover, we continued our journey to Palermo. When we finally arrived in the early afternoon, our host students were waiting for us at the airport with warm smiles and open arms.
Each of us went to our host family’s home, where we were welcomed and shown around. After some rest, we went out for a short walk in the city to get our first taste of Palermo’s atmosphere. We ended the day with dinner together, enjoying our first real moment of relaxation in Sicily.
Day 2 – School Activities and Cultural Exchange - 24/11/2025
On Monday morning, we went to school, where we presented the work we had prepared in advance. The atmosphere was lively and inspiring, with students from different countries sharing ideas and experiences.
After the presentations, we enjoyed a buffet prepared at the school. Later, we spent time exploring the city, tasting local food and discovering everyday life in Palermo. After a long and full day, we returned home tired but happy, ready to rest.
Day 3 – Farm Visit and Traditional Cuisine - 25/11/2025
On Tuesday, we met at the metro station and travelled by bus to the Augustali Family Farm. There, we tasted local products, explored the farm, and learned about traditional agricultural practices. We also had the chance to make bread and fresh pasta ourselves — a truly hands-on experience!
Afterwards, we enjoyed a delicious lunch with traditional pasta and eggplant sauce. In the afternoon, we returned to Palermo, and in the evening we went out with our host families, walking through the lively streets of the city.
On Wednesday, we met at the famous Teatro Massimo, the largest opera house in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. From there, we explored the open-air market of Palermo, full of colours, smells and sounds.
Walking through the city, we admired historical monuments, visited a Catholic church and explored the main streets. At lunchtime, we tried local street food, including the famous arancini. After a long and exciting day, we returned home for a relaxing evening with our host families.
On Thursday morning, we met outside the impressive Norman Palace, one of the most important historical landmarks of Palermo. We learned about Sicily’s rich history and admired its unique architecture.
Later, we walked through the city centre, discovering hidden corners and experiencing everyday local life. We also visited the vibrant Ballarò Market, where we tasted traditional street food and enjoyed the lively atmosphere. After lunch, we returned home for some rest, full of beautiful images and memories.
Friday was an emotional day for everyone. In the morning, we gathered at school for the official Erasmus closing ceremony. We shared breakfast, listened to music, danced, sang karaoke and celebrated the friendships we had built during the week.
In the evening, we went out together one last time to celebrate the end of this unforgettable journey.
Finally, the day of departure arrived. Early in the morning, we met at the airport with our suitcases full — not only of clothes, but of memories, experiences and new friendships. Saying goodbye was emotional, but we all knew that Erasmus makes distances smaller and friendships stronger.
