Dead Veneration, a quick guide on how one should properly respect the passed.
when someone dies, it can be difficult, hard and depressing to deal with, especially if that person was close to you and others, whether that were a parent, sibling, friend or lover.
in Glemtism, we believe that the souls of the passed become one with the earth, merging with the worlds energy's to become apart of an ancient force that people (such as Buddhists or shamanic practitioners) have tapped into for millennium.
it is this force that we revere in our religion, by acknowledging it we acknowledge our ancestors and what they meant to us and as the Glemts are the deity's we choose to pray to, it is important that we also Acknowledge their role in the cycle of life and death.
The two Glemts who represent Death are Vereen and Thylor, in death there is Vereen, flying above the deceased as he guides their souls into the energy that surrounds us and it is Thylor who takes that energy and spreads it into life anew, all souls are made of this earthly energy and it is natural that they return to it when the time is right.
when honouring the dead, one can create an altar or shrine in their home to remember them by and light Incense or candles in their memory, as well as that bringing an offering of food, drink or hand picked flowers to the grave can be good as well, as a way of giving respect to the people you loved.
family tree's of past loved ones can be created and placed on a shrine, so that all those you once knew can be remembered and their story's passed on to future generations, it can also be a way to comfort yourself if you ever feel emotional during the first few weeks after a persons passing.
which ever way you feel is best for you, remembering the dead is an important part of Glemtism, it is easy to give into negative emotions after someone dies or to blame yourself for the passing. but take comfort, the person you know is never truly gone and no matter how difficult it may be, you will never forget them and what they meant to you.
