After watching the movie when I analyzed it critically I realised that apart from the entertainment, which this movie has in abundance, it even offers several lessons, which we can learn and apply them at our work, and with our teams.
1. TEAM WORK: First learning this movie portrays. When the girls coming from different states are asked to introduce themselves, they are strictly informed by their coach that they should play for their country first, then for their team members and if there is still some energy left, then for themselves. That’s the attitude we should take to our work everyday, first its the organization we are working for, then we are working as a team and thats how we will achieve our success and not by working in our own silos. As Vince Lombardi said “Individual commitment to a group effort — that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”
2. TEAM GOAL: Chak de India movie portrays this phenomena in a very effective manner. The top scorers (Preeti Sabharwal and Komal Chautala) were competing to bag the highest scorer tag and in that quest they start competing with each other and stop passing the ball to each other; which eventually turns out to be a boon for the opponent team.
Haven’t you seen this kind of attitude in team members? The internal rivalry leading to people pulling each other down, competing against each other, and of course hoarding the information. What happens to the team? We all know the answer...

What other life skills/soft skills could you notice in the movie?
...Ostensibly, the film is about children with special needs and the story revolves around the efforts of a dyslexic child to fit in, adjust and perform in a 'normal' world where competition is the norm and regimentation the principle.
...So much so, Taare Zameen Par becomes the story of any and every child who is being robbed off his childhood by insensitive parents and teachers who believe their job is to create race-winning rats for the rat race rather than Einsteins, Edisons, Agatha Christies and Leonardo Da Vincis.
Eight-year-old Ishaan (Darsheel) is a happy-go-lucky child with a fertile imagination that can see fish flying but fails to grasp the difference between B and D. When asked to solve his three times table, he confidently picks up his pencil and sees a war of planets on the firmament of his mind where planet 3 smashes into planet 6 and beats it into smithereens.
Naturally, the answer of 3 x 6 is 3 for our little genius. But that's between you and me. Berated by the teachers, his parents send the kid away to a boarding school and deliver him to a living hell, where he faces ridicule and begins to lose all self-esteem in his effort to fit in. It takes an unconventional art teacher (Aamir Khan) to bring him out of his solitary confinement and unleash a whole new energy force that blinds the boring world with its colours and configurations...

Life begins when one moves out of comfort zone: Although a perfect home maker, Sridevi couldn’t even get the appreciation of her family members, but when she moved out of her comfort zone and learnt English, she found a new herself and her family started valuing her as an individual- one that was her true self.
It’s never late to start something new: As they say, age is just a number, so instead of crying over the time lost and undermining oneself, it’s better to value-add by learning something new-something that you had always wanted to do but couldn’t because of time, money or other constraints...
Trust oneself completely: ‘If you ever need a helping hand, it's at your arm’s end.’ No one knows you better than yourself. Your individuality defines you, so trust yourself and be open to challenges in life. After all, you are the one who can make your dreams come true...
Self-confidence is a beautiful thing: Take pride in whoever you are and whatever you do! Sridevi thought of herself as a mere ladoo maker but when she realized and was called an entrepreneur, she found that aura of pride and dignity in what she did, thus satiating her mentally, without changing an iota of her work.
Don’t settle in a monotonous life, find some ‘me’ time: This is especially true in the context of Indian females, as mostly after marriage, they devote themselves completely in the service of their family.
...These were (a few) lessons I learnt from English Vinglish movie. Do let me know what inspiration you got from this movie...
