Government Degree College, Chevella, established in 2008, provides quality education with a special emphasis on the competitive skills of students. The Department of English, managed by Smt. Roopna Ravindran, Assistant Professor of English, aims to provide good command of the English Language to her BA, BCom, BSc BZC, and MPC, MPCS students.

The College which comes under the jurisdiction of Osmania University follows the textbooks The English Turf for First-Year Students, English in Use for Second-Year Students and English in Action for third year students

The Department had conducted workshops on "English for Competitive Exams", Soft Skills, and Personality Development. It had also organised the "Learn English, Have Fun" programme to create enthusiasm among the rural students to learn English. During the COVID-19 Lockdown period, the Department in association with the Department of Commerce conducted an International E-Quiz and a National E-Quiz which received wide acclaim from student participants.
