Welded Warriors' ULTIMATE GOAL robot, COB, features an intake mechanism, flywheel mechanism, and wobble goal arm. The flywheel mechanism was 3D-printed, and we are launching the rings via the compliant wheel intake and drop-down into the flywheel. From here, the new 6000 rpm motor flies the rings into the high, mid, and low goals, as well as the powershot. The wobble goal arm picks up the wobble goals, and delivers them over the side panels of the field. We also 3D-printed a corn on the cob with our team number: 15410.
We had to combine Welded and Wired this year due to COVID-19 (decrease in materials, and few members able to be in one area.)
COB won the Connect Award at the State Qualifier, advancing to State for the first time as a 3-year team.
Welded Warriors' SKYSTONE robot, Tony, featured a unique mechanism made with a measuring tape. One way to earn points in SKYSTONE was to park in a designated zone, and any part of the robot could be in it. The measuring tape allowed Tony to park in the zone from anywhere on the field.
Tony won First Alliance Pick and the Judge's Award at Qualifiers.
Wired Warriors' SKYSTONE robot, Osiris, experimented with different types of motors to collect stones at a fast speed.
The Wired Warriors' also worked hard to stack as many stones as they could with Osiris, managing to stack as many as 10 stones.
Welded Warriors' first robot, Chef Jeff, had a specially designed gear system to make the claw super strong. The claws were custom-made using a CNC mill.
Chef Jeff started as a 'pushbot,' but as the season progressed it was able to lift itself onto a lunar module, pick up game elements, and run autonomously.
Wired Warriors' first robot, Muffin, competed in ROVER RUCKUS. Muffin was named for the fact that the robotics teams used to meet and work in an old foods lab.
Muffin's objectives included scaling the lunar module with a linear motion kit, as well as collected the gold cubes and white wiffle balls via a rubber band collector. Focusing on scaling the lunar module turned out successful for the team, as we scored top 4 at all of the Meets - including getting 1st at Meet 2.
Muffin ended up winning the Rookie Award at Qualifiers.
