About Us
Who we are
We are GCHS Robotics, the Robotics Team from the Granite City High School in Granite City, IL. FREIGHT FRENZY℠ will be our fourth season.
Previously, we've been split into two teams, the Welded Warriors (#15410) and the Wired Warriors (#15020). Last year we made the decision to combine our members into the Welded Warriors - due to a decrease of materials and resulting consequence of COVID-19.
our mission
GCHS Robotics Team's mission is to embody the values of FIRST® discovery, innovation, impact, inclusion, teamwork, and fun. We use all of these values while following the FIRST® philosophies of Gracious Professionalism®.
What is Gracious Professionalism®?
FIRST® says, "Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST. It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals in the community. . . . in the long run, Gracious Professionalism is part of pursuing a meaningful life. One can add to society and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing one has acted with integrity and sensitivity."
We say, "Gracious Professionalism is a term that encourages teaching sustainable STEM skills; emphasizes reaching out to the community in pursuit of knowledge and integrity; and respects other FTC teams, members, and individuals in our vocational community."
