This section will provide you with an overview of GCF and what its objectives and structure is as an organisation. You will go through the how and why GCF was established and the importance of transformational change to GCF. You will then go through the relevant GCF structure and processes. This includes the structure of GCF and a discussion around how GCF works as a funder and who the key partners are in GCF’s business model. This section will also touch on the accreditation process.
You two videos above will introduce you to the structure and policies of GCF and to the concept of transformational change.
You will now delve into GCF’s frameworks and policies which will be important in the development of your project. This includes the investment framework, the results management framework and the performance measurement framework. This includes the six GCF investment criteria and the eight results areas. This section will also give you an overview of GCF’s Gender Policy, Environmental and Social Safeguards Policy and Indigenous Peoples Policy.
This section also includes a case study for you to discuss in your discussion groups. Make sure that you coordinate a time with your group to work through the questions because they will help you when submitting your assignment at the end of the module.
In this section of this module you will learn about the GCF project cycle, including the process of developing a concept note and a full proposal, the review process and the simplified approval process (SAP).
The final section of this module will take you through concept notes and proposals for GCF. It will help you to understand the common reasons that proposals are unsuccessful and how to improve the bankability of your project. This section will then discuss the concept note and proposal templates and go into the similarities between the two templates and how the full proposal can build off the concept note. The section ends off with an overview of the support that is available from GCF throughout the project development process.
