Higher Education for Blacks

Du Bois believed that higher education for African Americans was crucial for the progress and upliftment of the entire African American community. He argued that a small group of highly educated and skilled individuals could serve as leaders and advocates for their race, helping to address social and political issues affecting the African American community. This is Vital for sustaining democracy for many reasons. Those being: Equal participation, Diverse perspectives, Social mobility, Civil engangment, empowerment and rights awarness along with so many others. 

This directly relates to the African American community whose families and relatives fight for higher education every day. Higher education plays a crucial role in the African American community's pursuit of equity and inclusion in American education in several ways. Two of the biggest ways in which it helps in my opinion is voice and representation and access to opportunity. African Americans who pursue higher education are better positioned to have their voices heard in educational institutions, government, and various public platforms. This representation is super important for shaping policies and practices that promote equality. Higher education provides African Americans with access to opportunities that can lead to economic and social mobility. With these opportunities they can acquire skills and knowledge to compete in the job market. 

I find this to be super important and play a critical role in the broad education goal of preparing students to be active citizens in a plural democratic society. It teaches them to fight for what they believe in and what they want to achieve in the future. Students learning this can promote inclusivity and equality for their community, along with a higher civic education.
