- Our team successfully designed and implemented a custom Battery Management System PCB.
- We successfully tested the PCB with 16 battery cells in series. Note: see cell balancing outputs.
- Designed the PCB to be 4 layers instead of the recommended 6 layers from the datasheet.
- Schematic Capture - The Schematic Capture section shows our Power Circuit, Temperature Circuit, Cell balancing Circuit, HV-LV Isolation, and main IC schematics used on our Battery Management System PCB.
- PCB Layout - Preliminary component placement and final PCB layout of our Battery Management PCB.
- Final Board - Final soldered Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) of our battery management system. The printed circuit boards were manufactured by Bay Area Circuits at no cost. Smallest component package size soldered were multiple 0603 capacitors.
- Cell Balancing Outputs - The cell balancing outputs shows the results of testing and balancing 16 lithium ion cells in series over an eight hour interval. Each cell simulation decreases exponentially over the eight hour time period. Furthermore, if the cells were tested for a longer period, balancing results will show all 16 cells reaching a steady-state output.
