The following requirements must be incorporated into the Power Subsystem of this project:

• Designing a battery pack that will last at least 7 minutes with the motor running on peak power.
• Designing an effective housing to protect the batteries and Printed Circuit Board from outside elements.
• The Battery Management System must contain cell balancing, temperature monitoring, and voltage monitoring circuits.
• Battery Management System must comply with the Society of Automotive Engineering regulations listed in the Student Notes section.

• Our team decided to choose batteries that contains a greater energy density in order to supply a constant current of 340 Amps to the motor. Choosing batteries with a greater energy density will allow our motor to draw high currents and thus allow our vehicle to accelerate faster. However, higher energy density batteries will increase the overall weight of our vehicle.
• The main drawback of our Electric Race vehicle would be having the need to recharge the battery back after approximately every 6-10 minutes of racing on the track. Electric vehicles are also limited by range and speed and requires a longer recharge time compared to a couple of minutes at the pump for vehicle with an Internal Combustion Engine. Finally, the batteries on an electric vehicle would need to be replaced every 3-10 years depending on the battery pack's State of Health and State of Charge.
