Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) is an international student design competition in which each team must design, construct, and test their very own high performance Formula One-style race vehicle. Teams are responsible for structuring their organization’s business model and for raising their own means of funding and support for their project. FSAE Student Design Series is an ultimate culmination of automotive engineering and business management. It is a full-scale engineering showdown in which the FSAE Electric Team at SFSU will compete with other schools from across the globe to see who can create the best car. The vehicle will be judged based on the overall quality of the design, cost, performance, and the team’s ability to report on their processes and present the engineering concepts used to develop the vehicle. FSAE Student Design Series competitions provide an excellent opportunity for students to utilize the knowledge they have gained from their rigorous course work and implement that knowledge in a practical and exciting real world application!
The Gator Racing BMS team will be designing and building a Battery Management System PCB to monitor the voltage and temperature levels of the Battery Packs for San Francisco State University's FSAE Vehicle. This project was created as part of a two-term senior design course sequence in the Electrical Engineering Department at San Francisco State University in Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 Semesters.
