Professional Development

Fund for Teachers Fellowship

I was awarded a Fund For Teachers fellowship for study and travel during the summer of 2018. Using the Silk Road as a unifying concept, I participated in the performance track of the Silkroad Global Musician Workshop at Depauw University; explored artistic masterpieces of Rome; and served as a delegate at the International Society for Music Education's Music In Schools and Teacher Education Commission in Prague, to increase students’ intercultural understanding through music.

Advanced Placement Program: Music Theory

I completed a week-long professional development session in an Advanced Placement in Music Theory course that took place at Manhattan College during the summer of 2018.

Lincoln Center Scholars

As part of the two year Lincoln Center Scholars Program, I was awarded a fellowship based on teaching, academic, and musical excellence. I received monthly feedback from Lincoln Center Teaching Artists. I also received instruction in the aesthetic education philosophy of Lincoln Center Education.

Carnegie Hall Music Educators Workshop

This year-long workshop, focused on ensemble music education, addressed both artistry and craft. Topics included Leading and Creating with Your Ensemble, and Diversity and Belonging in the Music Classroom. I was one of three participants selected to conduct the Chorus at the final session in June 2017.
