Gaoyang Pang received a B.Eng. degree in mechanical design, manufacture, and automation from the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, Hunan University (HNU), Changsha, China, in 2017, received the M.Eng. degree in mechatronics engineering from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Zhejiang University (ZJU), Hangzhou, China, in 2020, and received a Ph.D. degree in engineering from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the University of Sydney (USyd), Sydney, Australia, in 2025. He has been a post-doctoral research associate at USyd since 2025.
Before joining USyd, he built flexible sensing devices and systems for safe and natural human-robot interaction. Now, his focus is on wireless communications and control for networked human-machine collaboration.
As of the time, he has co-authored 30+ peer-reviewed publications, including 1 ESI hot paper, 1 ESI highly cited paper, and 9 Cover Articles. He has been granted 30 invention patents and participated in 8 research projects funded by NSFC, ZJNSFC, etc. He serves as a peer reviewer of 50+ journals and conferences for 300+ reviews. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Wireless human-machine collaboration research is a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative endeavour, including human-robot interaction, wireless communications, deep reinforcement learning, and flexible electronics. I am always excited to collaborate with highly motivated students, researchers, and professionals in these fields. If you are interested in discussing research opportunities, project ideas, or potential collaborations, please feel free to contact me via email. I can offer weekly meetings to inspire brainstorming and discuss literature studies, research ideas, experimental protocols, research paper writing, and draft revisions based on my experience in these fields.
Sometimes, I share tools for promoting academic research, write reviews for cutting-edge papers and reports, as well as present insights into academic career development. Any discussions and questions are welcome.
When facing a problem, don't immediately assign blame or let emotions take over. Focus on solving the issue first. Once it's resolved, one can revisit emotions, reflect, and analyze what went wrong. Be kind to your partner and mates.
