Algebra 1

Summary:

This class is designed to craft all the foundational algebra skills needed to progress through secondary level mathematics. Students will delve into a range of specialized concepts alongside developing their number sense.

The course will start with establishing the basic relationships between numbers and how to convert them into various forms. That will build the scaffolding necessary to move onto more complex properties as well as functions and their many uses.

Objectives:

• Identify the building blocks that allow us to progress through math

• Foster a good understanding of terminology and core concepts

• Build good habits in regards to being accurate and precise in math work

• Cover everything from operations and measurements to polynomials and equations

• Create space for questions and deep, synthetic learning

Materials:

• Graph paper

• Pencils & erasers

• Ruler

Schedule

The class is 36 weeks long, running from the weeks of September 11 to May 12.

Sessions will occur on Wednesdays, 10–11:30.

The class is designed for a minimum of 8 students.

Cost

The full year costs $900 per student, which amounts to $25 per class.
