Games4Green is an innovative Erasmus+ project, a European initiative focused on combining the power of video games with environmental awareness. Through this project, we aim to equip young people, particularly those in vocational training, with the skills to develop serious video games that highlight critical issues such as climate change, sustainability, and green practices. Our mission is to harness the creative potential of gaming to inspire positive action for the planet, while also boosting youth employability in one of the fastest-growing industries – game development.
The consortium has developped a comprehensive, self-paced online course (SPOOC) designed to teach video game coding and design with a green focus. Through this interactive and practical learning experience, students will gain hands-on skills in game creation while also learning about environmental issues and sustainability. No prior experience in programming is required, and the project fosters a diverse and inclusive learning environment that welcomes participants from all backgrounds.
Games4Green is unique in blending the development of video games with environmental education. Participants learn to create engaging, impactful games that promote awareness about critical issues like climate change, sustainability, and eco-friendly practices.
By covering different roles in game development—coding, design, project management, and more—the project not only equips participants with technical skills but also with essential soft skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
The PLE feature allows users to customize their learning experience, adapting the course material to their needs and interests, which enhances lifelong learning and skill development in video game creation.
The project offers a Self-Paced Open Online Course (SPOOC), enabling participants to learn video game coding and design at their own pace. With 400 hours of training and no prior programming knowledge required, it’s accessible to a wide range of learners.
