Welcome to the Laboratory of Electron Microscopy and Spectroscopy (LEMS) in Gachon University.

Research in LEMS focuses on understanding the structure-property relationship of functional materials and exploring the photonic phenomena occurring at nano architectures with advanced electron microscopy techniques. The quantitative correlations between atomic structure and physical properties are studied using atomic-scale imaging, diffractions, and spectroscopies. The electronic states and optical modes are examined with a high spatial resolution using electron-beam spectroscopies. Our ultimate goal is to construct fundamental knowledge to drive important innovations in electronic, optoelectronic, magnetic, and photonic technologies.

We are looking for research professors (foreign scholars with doctoral degrees in engineering or natural sciences), motivated graduate students, and undergraduate interns. An exciting research opportunity on 'synthesis and applications of ultrathin delafossite oxides' and 'point-defect analysis in electronic devices and quantum materials' is now open! For more information, feel free to contact Sangmoon Yoon.
