My partner Greg Binns and I came together to compare and contrast some aspects of two countries. I chose South Korea, and he chose France. This project had us research these countries and information on their populations, demographics, technology usage/culture, climates, languages spoken, and the digital divide. We then used Word to organize the information on the two separate countries and display it in the best way possible. Lastly, we collaborated on a PowerPoint to compare and contrast the information we found on these countries to create clear and concise slides to effectively communicate our points.
I learned that there are many dialects of Korean and that age and region effect the dialect you may hear people use
I learned that 60% of South Korea's yearly rainfall is during the summer
I learned that France is ranked 23rd and South Korea is ranked 29th in world population.
I learned of an app called KaKaoTalk that 90% of the people in South Korea use
This project gave me more experience with using the features of PowerPoint and Word. I had to use Word's cite feature to cite sources and create a bibliography which is pretty new to me. I also had to use SmartArt features in PowerPoint and create graphs in Excel to put into the PowerPoint which is also pretty new to me. My partner and I discussed the similarities and differences we have in our chosen countries. We also discussed how we wanted to structure the PowerPoint and what features we would like to use to communicate our information. Overall, this was an engaging assignment that gave me more experience collaborating with a partner, using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
