As a white-presenting person, I am painfully aware of the tendency for those with privilege to be handed positions of power. As such, I’ve often rejected leadership positions, hoping that this would balance the scale. However, I have learned how to lead by using my own strengths to support young leaders from historically marginalized communities through the development of intentional spaces of joy.
Outing Club Short Trips Leader
I co-founded the Short Trips Committee of the Outing Club to overcome barriers that keep BIPOC and lower-income communities from the outdoors. I work to create opportunities for students to shed the role of “student” and play in the rivers and forests of our urban landscape. I have found that the seeds of responsibility to the environment are planted when we remind ourselves to play.
Women's* Wrestling Club Captain
My freshman year of college, I founded the Women’s* Wrestling Club in response to the lack of opportunities for women wrestlers at the collegiate level. In this space, women revel in their own strengths, creating a community of resilience and joy.

Environmental Studies Anti-Racism Fellow + Student Representative
Through the Anti-Racism Fellowship, I work to bring environmental justice opportunities to campus and organize BIPOC outings. As the ES student representative, I attend bimonthly department meetings, support community spaces for majors and minors, and was a part of the selection committee for hiring a new tenure-track professor.
In December 2023, I traveled to Dubai, UAE as the head student of the Macalester delegation to attend the COP28–an international summit of the world’s leaders to discuss climate change mitigation strategies. While attending, I saw representatives from wealthy countries repeatedly attempt to dissociate extractive industry from the climate crisis. I was struck by how rarely Indigenous voices were given a seat at the table. I realized that while Indigenous knowledge has long been tapped for the development of new medicines or knowledge of landscapes, they do not have a platform where their opinions on land management and climate solutions are respected. Consequently, governments and multinational companies continue to negotiate use of Indigenous land without any Indigenous representation at the table, leading to a rapid growth of extractive zones into Indigenous territory.
Women's Wrestling Team Assistant Coach
Since 2023, I have been an assistant on the coaching staff of the Albany High School Women's Wrestling team. During a single practice, the coaching staff provides guidance to up 40 students ages ranging from 13 to 18. Starting in the summer of 2025, I began coaching the California Women's Freestyle Wrestling National Team, overseeing more than 100 young athletes as they prepared and competed in this pre-Olympic program.
